The Saffron Walden 10k took place on Sunday 30th September in my home village of Newport, North Essex. Everyone was quite fortunate that the weather held out and it was reasonably warm and stayed dry. Once out into the open fields it was quite breezy which was welcome once i had got warmed up. The area is hilly and undulating throughout the course and i wasn’t expecting a personally good time. Especially at the 7km mark an evil incline probably only 100 yards or so long but steep enough to have my legs screaming!!. My runs around these tracks usually average about 48m for a six mile run. The run was organised by my running club the Saffron Striders, it was well organised with registrations taking place in the school sports hall, refreshments were available outside. At the finish of the race water and a technical t-shirt were given out. I was pleased with my effort and time of 46m 13s considering the terrain and finishing in 64th of 284 runners.
next up Manuden 10k 7th October 2012.
